Lux Energies is an expert at providing Wind Turbine solutions for home or business.

Some places on the planet’s surface are windier than others. If you’ve ever walked in a city on a windy day, you might have noticed how the walls of the buildings allow the wind to blow as if it were going through a tunnel, speeding up the movement of the air into quick gusts. That’s because in those alleyways formed by the streets, sidewalks and walls, there isn’t anything to slow the wind down or stop it. Similar effects are found where the wind can blow across large bodies of water unhindered, or over very flat landscapes.

How Wind turbine works:
In a typical wind turbine design, rotor blades are attached to an axle that runs into a gearbox.A step-up gearbox works to increase the rotational speed of a wind turbine’s blades and rotor system in the generator to produce electricity using the same mechanical principle as the gears on your bicycle. For example, when you shift to a higher gear on your bike, if you continue pedaling at the same speed, your tires’ rotation speed will increase and you will go faster! Conversely, if you shift to a lower gear (when going up a hill, for example), you need to pedal faster to maintain your same speed. Likewise, a step-up gearbox on a wind turbine increases the rotational speed of the blades from roughly 18 revolutions per minute (RPMs) up to 1,800 RPMs. The fast spinning shaft turns inside the generator, producing AC (alternating current) electricity. Electricity must be produced at just the right frequency and voltage to be compatible with the utility grid.
